Just time for a quick walk round the park before I go off to Rainham Marshes. I hope to have some more pictures for you tonight.

A Blackbird sang to his mate on a dead tree beside the Long Water.

A Pied Wagtail trotted along the herbaceous border in the Rose Garden.

The Little Owl in the oak near the Albert Memorial was in the same place as yesterday.

A family of Long-Tailed Tits passed through a horse chestnut tree just down the hill.

A Great Crested Grebe sauntered past the island.

One of the Coot chick at the Dell restaurant saw a parent approaching with what it hoped was food. But it turned out to be just another stick for the nest.

A row of Coots on the edge of the Serpentine were unmoved by a passing dog, where geese would have panicked and rushed into the lake. I think that if the dog had tried anything the Coots would have gone for it en masse.

Two Mallards dozed on the brink of the waterfall in the Dell. It doesn't seem a restful spot, but many birds seem to like the sensation of water running over their feet.

A young fox looked out from the scrub below the Henry Moore sculpture.

Another excellent picture from Ahmet Amerkali: a Honeybee visits a purple flower.

  1. The Blackbird singing to his mate is one of the loveliest things I've seen this week.

I wish we could see Coots mount a mass attack on an intruding dog. I'd give something for that.

    1. Oddly, I've never seen Coots attacking a dog, or vice versa. Possibly the dogs sense the Coots' innate fury.
