It was dark and raining when I went out, and some of today's pictures are none too good because of the bad light. The Little Owl at the Round Pond was in no mood to come out of her hole, even when I went back later and the weather had improved.
A Jay at the Serpentine Gallery looked sadly bedraggled.
The rain didn't keep the Song Thrush by the Henry Moore sculpture from singing. Thrushes like rain because it brings worms to the surface.
There was a good turnout of small birds to take pine nuts in the Rose Garden shrubbery. Both Chaffinches ...
... the local Robin ...
... and the Dunnock came down ...
... and one of the Great Tits that come to my hand also joined in on the ground.
One of the Grey Herons on the island was gathering twigs for its nest. They have some difficulty biting them off.
Pigeon Eater loudly proclaimed his ownership of the east end of the Serpentine.
A Cormorant dried its wings on the roof of one of the small boathouses.
Another was fishing under the Italian Garden ...
... but it was a young Great Crested Grebe that got the fish.
A Moorhen trotted across the wet pavement of the Italian Garden.
The Wigeon at the Round Pond climbed ashore.
There were a few moments of weak sunshine in the afternoon.
I don't know what the designer of this object from the Wasteland thought he was doing -- is it a chilli pepper or an ice cream cone? But it seemed to bring delight, and made me think it might a feasible idea to really combine them: hot and cold at the same time. Just the kind of thing that Heston Blumenthal might do at his Fat Duck restaurant, so I'm sending him the picture.
That looks to me like a red pepper. There is such a thing as red pepper icecream in Spain btw

Well I never. The recipe actually has more mint purée in it than red pepper. I have heard of tomato ice cream, which doesn't seem a very happy idea.
