Standing on the stern of a punt with a pole is inviting disaster at the best of times, and a furious swan makes the moment perfect.Ralph Hancockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11686354797977020917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278510471239667560.post-31929384434248328182021-03-18T00:14:46.827+00:002021-03-18T00:14:46.827+00:00I think it was the Cam. Never managed to see him in action though, sadly.TinĂºvielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04794275230697959519noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278510471239667560.post-80440411278385617462021-03-17T06:02:58.500+00:002021-03-17T06:02:58.500+00:00It's been a poor year for Redwings here becaus...It's been a poor year for Redwings here because of the lack of the hideous funfair which ruins acres of grass and leaves the worms on the bare ground. For the first time in years I haven't seen a single Fieldfare in the park.Ralph Hancockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11686354797977020917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278510471239667560.post-57958813451663962252021-03-17T05:36:41.563+00:002021-03-17T05:36:41.563+00:00Lovely shot of the Stock Doves- I do have a soft s...Lovely shot of the Stock Doves- I do have a soft spot for them.

Your Redwings should be off soon. I saw a fair number still on my patch on Sunday but didn't see any Fieldfares which I had been seeing in previous weeks.Conehead54https://www.blogger.com/profile/18423862602236191493noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278510471239667560.post-36305849186503828752021-03-17T04:06:18.130+00:002021-03-17T04:06:18.130+00:00There are some stretches of river where swans have...There are some stretches of river where swans have lorded it over humans, the best known being the Cam (or is it the Granta?) at Cambridge where the huge and violent swan called Asbo knocked people off punts. He has now been succeeded by Son of Asbo who is worthily carrying on the tradition of his father. (Incidentally, Asbo is an acronym for a judicial measure applied in an attempt to control thugs, AntiSocial Behaviour Order.)Ralph Hancockhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11686354797977020917noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8278510471239667560.post-14339432259724387032021-03-17T00:24:54.934+00:002021-03-17T00:24:54.934+00:00The singing Robin is the perfect thing to see befo...The singing Robin is the perfect thing to see before going to bed in order to have good dreams.

It'd be a curious thing to have the swans have the run of the park.
