Johanna van de Woestijne has made another of her fine films, this one about the surprising adoptions that have been taking place among the park's swans and geese.

  1. Thank you Johanna and Ralph. Absorbing viewing, informative & involving, and a good feel of the mood of the park. Like a lovely not-so-still life.

  2. I really enjoyed the film. Some strong narrative goose-related threads, and a great thrill of course to see the black swan and his adopted cygnet. Thank you Ralph.

  4. Once again, thank you Johanna and Ralph for the SUPER new film. Especially enjoyed the footage of the Black Swan and his cygnet and looking forward to the next instalment. It really is like following a real life soap opera in The Royal Parks.

    1. Since we released that film, there has been the attack on the adopted gosling (now happily rescued) and a big fight between the Black Swan and the local dominant Mute Swan over the cygnet. So the soap opera is less Coronation Street and more Game of Thrones.

    2. Oh, good, I was hoping there was more to it!

    3. But of course I didn't get any video, or even stills, of either recent event, because I only heard of these from other people. That is the trouble with film making: almost always you turn up after the incident and have to get what you can. The interviewer can only say, 'So, Mrs Cheeseburger, your house was destroyed by an elephant stampede, your husband was crushed by a grand piano falling from an airship, and you lost both legs in a bizarre Magimix-related incident. Tell me, how do you feel?'

    4. Yeah, I understand, but the way you tell it, is just great. BTW Even Ken Burns, the all time great producer and editor, combines stills with video, so he can tell the story. That is the goal for all of us, I think.

  5. Wow, Ralph's update makes the film look like a thriller!

Thank you both so very, very much. Seeing it is like being there.
